Blue Jays Pitcher J.A. Happ Nailed in the Head With Line Drive

Scenes just like the one that unfolded at Tropicana Field Tuesday night is exactly why I never wanted to play pitcher when I was a kid. In the second inning Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ was nailed in the head with a line drive by Tampa Bay Rays Desmond Jennings. Happ collapsed upon contact and was eventually taken off the field in a stretcher.

At such close proximity to batters it is pretty hard for pitchers to defend themselves against plays like this. Happ was awake when he left the field and was quickly taken to the local hospital.
