Texas Tech Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury Sends Great Message to Players

There is something to be said for time and experience. There is also something to be said for being the next great thing, and Texas Tech thinks they have it in their new and very young head coach--and former football standout--Kliff Kingsbury.

Some have pointed at his age and said he isn't ready to be in charge of a major college football program. In a recent message to his players Kingsbury proved that his age is more of a boon to the team than a detriment.

While he may not have the experience on his resume of other coaches being younger gives him an advantage. It was not that long ago that he was a lot like the 18-22 year old kids on his roster. Times and games have changed in the decade since he was one of them, but he is actually young enough to remember what it was like.

And how to talk like them--which he proved in this note he sent out to his players before they took off for summer break:

I will have to admit to not knowing what in the world he was talking about, but thanks to the internet I was able to figure it out. He wasn't talking about 'cash on delivery' but 'Call of Duty.' I guess that's a popular game?

(Just kidding. I now what Call of Duty is; I've seen commercials.)

Of course if he had not had some pretty impressive success during his short college coaching career the Red Raiders would not have gone with him. As great as it is to have an alumni in charge of your program, no one wants an unproven scrub. Thanks to Texas A&M and Johnny Manziel its safe to say that Kingsbury knows what he's doing.

At the least he will make practice a lot more fun with no fear of being locked in an equipment shed. The Red Raiders may not have dance offs at practice, but I'll take a coach that raps over a fat guy doing the worm any day.
