According to Chris Douglass-Roberts, who is playing for the Lakers during the summer league, the Black Mamba told him that he is well ahead of schedule with his rehab after suffering an Achilles injury towards the end of the 2012-13 regular season.
“He told me he’s three months ahead of schedule, which is very Kobe-like,” Douglas-Roberts said.Skeptics will be quick to point out that this is just hearsay information. You would think that we'd be hearing it from Kobe rather than through another player after a summer league game.
It wouldn't be shocking if it was all just a smoke screen to perpetuate an image of strength for the Lakers organization, something it certainly does not have without Kobe.
Or it could be the truth.
We'll find out come October at the latest.
