Sounds Like Steve Smith Needs to Ice Up

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith came up with an instant classic when he said New England Patriots defensive back Aqib Talib needed to ice up after Talib left the Panthers/Patriots game with a hip injury.

However, it is starting to look like he needs to take his own advice if he is going to play against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

Smith sprained his knee towards the end of the regular season, but is trying to play this weekend. However, after suffering a set back in practice Thursday it is not looking good:

“Just didn’t go as well as I thought,” he said. “It will be all right. A little treatment. I did everything. I just probably overdid it.”

He's downgraded his status:

It will be a blow to the Panthers offense against a very tough San Francisco team if he can't play, and at his age it could be his last chance too. Unless he absolutely can't physically play he will likely be on the field. he may not walk much after the game, but he'll play!
