Looks Like Adrian Peterson Might Be Stuck on the Vikings

For weeks the rumor mill has gone crazy with talk about the future of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. There has been a ton of talk about interest between the Cowboys and AP, but word is that his No. 1 choice is actually the Arizona Cardinals.

However, after some recent developments it appears that neither team is going to make a play for him which means he will likely remain a Viking next season.

Word is that the Cardinals were willing to give up a nice draft pick to acquire Peterson, but there is just one problem. AP has three years and $45 million left on his contract. That is a lot of money for a team to absorb and rumor has it the Cardinals are not willing to do it.
“We haven’t had contact with the Vikings about it, to the best of my knowledge,” a source told SI's Peter King on Sunday night. “And there is no way we could live with those numbers. We just got Larry Fitzgerald’s contract under control. No way we’d add that salary.”
Makes sense. As much as they might like to have him on the roster if he costs too much he costs too much.

So that opens the door for the Dallas Cowboys, right? Wrong.

This move is further proof that Jerry Jones is not in charge of the team anymore. He would have stooped at nothing to add Peterson to the roster no matter what the cost. The other occurrence came when the team didn't bend to DeMarco Murray's contract demands and let him walk. Jerry made it public knowledge that were it not for the salary cap Murray would still be a Cowboy.

Peterson likely has a lot of good football left in the tank, but at his age it is hard to know for certain. Tampa Bay has been rumored to have interest in Peterson, but nothing has developed yet.

So it looks like the Vikings are probbaly going to get AP back this coming season.
