The Only Thing Terrible in New York Are the Supposed Teammates

A story that has been steadily building steam this morning that some of the New York Jets have flat out said that Tim Tebow sucks. The comments are clearly there way of firing back to the constant questions on when or if the team is going to give Tebow a shot at starting with the poor season that Mark Sanchez has had or if they feel like Tebow should get a shot.

On one hand, I can understand getting frustrated that the media keeps hounding you about something, especially if answering the question means you are going to have to throw a teammate under the bus. However, to respond to it by throwing another teammate--all be it one that has yet to be on the team for a full season--under the bus is absolutely ridiculous behavior.

Take a look at some of the comments that have been reported in the New York Daily News:

"He's terrible."
"We have Greg...and we have an athlete."
"Hell no! You got to keep defenses honest. You just can't line up in the Wildcat all the time. That won't work."
"We can't win running that ----."

Their loyalty to Mark Sanchez is commendable, but to show it by bashing another player is unacceptable. It shows the lack of character on the team when they find it so easy to turn on one of their own (even if he has only been one of them for a few months).. What little passing and running he has done has not been stellar, but it hasn't been the cause of the team's poor play either.

If they want to be mad at anyone they should direct that inwards towards themselves. Tebow has barely played. He isn't the one that has missed countless tackles and blocks

The fact of the matter is the Jets are not playing good football, and they need to do something in order to regain some of the pride that such a historic organization has.

Mark Sanchez is not getting the job done, and there is no real reason to believe that he will.
If the Jets are holding out because they think he can turn the corner and then they will make a run at the playoffs then okay. If that is the case when they are eliminated in a couple weeks I hope that they give fans a reason to keep watching and make a change.

Whether the change is in the form of Tim Tebow or Greg McElroy doesn't matter. Heck, Tebow would probably say that he wants to play, but would give McElroy as much support as he does himself.

Why? Because regardless of what his skills as a football player may or may not add up to, he is the perfect example of what a teammate should be. He never talks bad about his team. He supports his coaches, and he gives his all whenever he is given the opportunity.

Can we say that about too many of the other Jets? I think not.
