Kobe Bryant Surpasses 30,000 Points

There might not be a whole  lot going right for Kobe this season, but the man can still do one thing like few ever have in the history of the game--score.

Baskets, that is.

Wednesday night against the team that drafted and then traded him away for Vlade Divac back in 1996-- I'll pause so you can laugh (I know I sure did). Anyway...In Wednesday night's game with the New Orleans Hornets he surpassed the 30,000 career points barrier.

The basket in question came with about a minute left when he floated one in over Robert Lopez. He became the youngest to do so with more than year's difference between him and Wilt Chamberlain (who did the deed--pun intended--back during the 1971-72 season).

Kobe is now the fifth player to score over 30,000 in his career joining some pretty spectacular company in Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Kareen Abdul-Jabar, and Karl Malone.
