Sounds Like Falcons Tight End Tony Gonzalez Sticking With Retirement

Like Ray Lewis, Tony Gonzalez hoped to go out on top. While Lewis is going to get his chance it doesn't look like it will happen for one of the best tight ends to ever play the game.

At the start of the season Gonzalez stated that he was done at the end of this season, and as recent as just a few days ago he stated that he was 95 percent sure that was still the plan. Listen to his comments following Sunday's 28-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game and that "95" sounds like its now closer to 100.

Like Lewis, its not like he couldn't keep playing if he didn't want to. Against the 49ers he had a solid day with eight receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. He actually had his best season as a Falcon with 93 receptions for 930 yards and eight touchdowns.

Throughout his career he was always among the best--if not the best--at his position even thought he only played on five playoff teams. His only post season win came this season when the Falcons beat the Seahawks 30-28 in the division playoff round.

Fans will hold onto his "95" percent comment until he actual makes it official...
