Alicia Keys gave the national Anthem a new spin, rather an old, soulful one prior to the kick off of Super Bowl XLVII Sunday night. Not only did she bring the house down with it, but she set the first of what would be many records that night.
By slowing the song down the way she did it ended lasting 156 seconds, a new record. The previous record was 152 by Natalie Cole back in 1994.
Traditionalist might want the National Anthem to be done the same way it is typically done. Me? I'm okay with the artist putting their own spin on it as long as it is still respectful, they don't lip sync, and they remember all the words.
She fit the bill plus she was an absolute knock out in that red dress! D*mn!
