The sports world has been abuzz over the Miami Heat and their record breaking winning streak, but while they have been steadily chalking up the wins another NBA team has been doing much of the same--the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets managed to keep their streak alive at 14 with a 101-100 win over the Philadelphia 76ers Thursday night, but it's a win that never should have happened.
Down by 5 with 14 seconds left on the clock the game was not quite out of reach (but it should have been). Corey Brewer sank a three with 9.2 seconds left, and then fouled Evan Turner with just over 7 ticks left.
Fans hoped for the best and actually got it--Turner missed both free throws! The Philly faithful still had the lead; they just needed to play defense.
Correction--good defense.
Brewer got fouled taking a three pointer, and got to go to the line for three. Unlike Turner, he made his and effectively stole the game out from underneath the 76ers.
Call it luck, call it a good team finding a way to win, or a bad team finding a way to lose. Either way the end result is this--
The Denver Nuggets are (still) going streaking!!!
