March Madness Update: Michigan Dominates VCU

It is hard to say sometimes that one team actually dominated another, but when a game is highlighted by plays like this, well--it's not that hard to say at all.

VCU might have had a whole other half still to play--and there had been a number of big come-from-behind-wins-- but the tone on the scoreboard was set just as well as the pick. When Mitch McGary set it on VCU Briante Weber towards the end of the first half the outcome of this game was not in doubt.

After dominating Akron in the Round of 64 and becoming the only No. 5 seed to advance Shaka Smart had to feel good about his boys even thought they were facing a tough Michigan team. In the end it was clear that the Rams were completely over matched.
"...I think what Michigan was able to do to us early on and us missing some easy shots around the basket and maybe some outside looks we'd normally make, that may have contributed to our spirit not being quite where it needed to be," Rams head coach Shaka Smart said.
With the loss, 58-73, VCU set a new record for the biggest point swing--71 points--after beating Akron by 46 and then losing by 25 to Michigan.

The Wolverines will have to wait until after the Kansas/North Carolina game to see who they face in the Sweet 16.
