NCAA Tries to Make College Football About Football Again

A lot of the hype around college football has gotten a little crazy.  There is so much concern about bringing the game to the fans and making them feel apart of it you almost expect to hear Johnny Manziel posting pics inside the huddle to Instagram.

It seems like there is a sponsor for everything now that has to have its name splashed everywhere. I get it--they pay for the right to do so and they want to get their money's worth. However, I can't help but think that stuff like that has taken away from the game. Remember when the Orange Bowl was the Orange Bowl?

Not many people do.

It takes away from the whole notion that college athletics are supposed to be about student athletes, and not the big business that they have become. Well--it appears that the NCAA might have finally decided to do something about it.

A new ruling has banned a few things from the field of college football stadiums by mandating what is allowed:

The big take that a lot of folks seem to be taking from this is no more hash tags on the field. This is probably since there is still some advertising allowed for sponsors (who were really the ones that needed to be pulled back).

Personally, I have never seen them, but then again I've never looked either. While I get that the university is just trying to make the most of social media having hash tags on the field is just another of the many things that distracts those involved from concentrating on what they should be doing--

Playing football.
