Do the Dallas Cowboys Need to Cut Josh Brent?

The question has come up in the past and is especially prevalent in light of the Aaron Hernandez case. While the circumstances are drastically different in Hernandez's case and that of Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent, but the end result for both was the same--they killed someone.

But Josh Brent still has a job and Hernandez does not. Are the Cowboys missing something here?

No one in the world faults the Patriots for cutting Hernandez. There is no telling if the team was aware of the severity of the charges when he was cut, but regardless of that the decision is widely considered the right one.

Now when Josh Brent got in the accident that killed his friend and teammate, Jeremy Brown, he was intoxicated hence the charge intoxication manslaughter. Since that fateful night the team has decided to stand by him rather than cut him loose.

One one had they have been commended for standing by a player in need that made a terrible and tragic mistake. On the other they are keeping someone on the roster that killed someone.

Dallas has been pretty quiet when it comes to Brent. They have appeared fine with letting the legal system take its course and than the NFL. They feel no need to pile on even more.

In light of the Patriots letting Hernandez go it would not be surprising to see the question raised once again on whether the 'Boys need to let Brent go. It may seem kind of odd timing should Dallas decide to do it now, but there are likely many that will also say it is about time.
