Johnny Manziel Getting Frustrated With the Spotlight

It must be great to be Johnny Manziel sometimes with all the adoring fans, appearances, and trappings that come with being the first freshman to ever win the Heisman trophy. At the same time, it has to really suck sometimes too.

From what the young quarterback of the Texas A&M Aggies sent out on Twitter Saturday night it sounds as if he had to deal with some of the negative aspects that come with being him.

Fans will probably never know what went down Saturday night, but it was bad enough for him to send out the following message:
"[Expletive] like tonight is why I can't wait to leave college station... whenever it may be."
Can't wait to leave College Station; not exactly what the Aggie Nation wants to hear. While the blog-o-sphere and media will likely focus on the 'can't wait' part of the note, what will get lost is the fact that something had to happen to make him feel that way.

Thanks to the unfettered access that the media and social media gives us to our favorite athletes and personalities these days the scrutiny that they come under is incredible. When you magnify that scrutiny and attention according to the wattage of the star--well, I shudder to think of what living day to day life must be like for guys like Johnny Football.

March Madness fans will forever remember Jimmer Freddette. What most college basketball fans probably don't know is that he was asked by the university to stop going to class his final semester. Although he did nothing to encourage it, his presence in class was often all that was needed to cause a disruption.

Part of the problem here is us--the fans. The one ting we love more than being able to get a piece of the superstar is seeing him fall. It's kind of perverse, but that is the kind of stuff that has made reality television so popular.

We love heroes, but we love drama even more.

To his credit, apparently after calming down Manziel went back and deleted the aforementioned tweet. he also sent out another:

Well said Johnny Football. I hope folks actually listen.
