The NBA has announced that Roy Hibbert has been fined $75,000 for "inappropriate and vulgar language" used during his press conference following the Pacers 91-77 win over the Heat in Game 6 Saturday night.
Hibbert may have been ready and willing to accept the fine Saturday night, but come Sunday morning he seemed to realize that he needed to do some damage control for his public perception. So he did what any player does a night after he says something stupid.
He apologized.
I am apologizing for insensitive remarks made during the postgame press conference after our victory over Miami Saturday night. They were disrespectful and offensive and not a reflection of my personal views. I used a slang term that is not appropriate in any setting, private or public, and the language I used definitely has no place in a public forum, especially over live television. I apologize to those who I have offended, to our fans and to the Pacers’ organization. I sincerely have deep regret over my choice of words last night.Hibbert also wasted little time in trying to reach out to Jason Collins sending out this tweet late Saturday night/early Sunday morning.
@jasoncollins34 hey can I get a follow. Would like to discuss something's with you.

When players say dumb things they have to pay the price, both financially and publicly. It seems like Hibbert is taking his lumps like a man. Hopefully he'll learn something from it and not be so careless again.
If you want to see what he did follow this link.
