Tim Tebow to Sign With New England Patriots

Many have said that the NFL career of Tim Tebow is over; that it never should have started in the first place even. It now appears that there are not too many of them in charge over at Foxborough. How do we know that? Because they signed him.

Yes, sports fans, the New England Patriots have signed Tim Tebow.

The move really shouldn't come as too big of a surprise. Next to Jacksonville--where Tebow is still highly regarded from his Florida Gator days--New England was the next most likely landing spot. The reason is simple-- because the man that drafted him, Josh McDaniels, runs the offense there.

It makes sense now why Patriots coach Bill Belichick chose this past weekend to refute the claim that he hated Tebow; because he knew the team was thinking about bringing him into the fold!

Belichick had this to say to ESPN:
"I wouldn't get into the probability of us pursuing any free agent. Every single player has strengths and weaknesses but regardless of that, for anyone to have represented that is the way I feel about Tim Tebow is completely untrue, baseless and irresponsible. It is unfortunate that something so inaccurate was reported."
The question now is what exactly he is going to do when he reports to mini-camp possibly as early as Tuesday. Will it be to compete with Ryan Mallet for the No. 2 QB job? Ever since he came into the league people have said that he should change positions. Early in the day CBS reported that he was going to get some time at tight end.

Since he is going to be working under the man who drafted him it would not be hard to see him play quarterback. With Ryan Mallet not exactly blowing people away and Tom Brady with a year or two of retirement the Patriots need to find the future leader of the offense.

With Tebow expected to need some time to develop wherever he plays this could be the perfect situation for him. No one is going to call for Tom Brady to be sat down so there will be no pressure when it comes to starting.

Belichick has proven he can turn just about anyone into a player, and in Tebow he has someone that will be dedicated to the team and to the game.

And no one controls the media as well as Belichick so the biggest problem that comes with Tebow may not come at all.

It is definitely going to be interesting to see how this develops...

Good luck to you Tim. The world is watching.
