Why Every Professional Athlete Should Want to Sign With Jay-Z and Roc Nation

The answer is pretty simple--the man is a marketing genius and an absolute juggernaut. Jay-Z proved it once again during half time of the NBA Finals when he announced via an ad that he was releasing his next album, Magna Carta Holy Grail.

It wasn't just the announcement that makes him a genius though. No, it's the fact that the album will have already gone platinum before it is even officially released.

Jay-Z has managed to negotiate a deal with Samsung (hence the product in the commercial) to have them buy 1 million copies of the album before it goes up for sale. Samsung will then take those albums and basically give them away to Samsung users via a special app.

What makes it even cooler (because getting a free rap album from a major recording artist is pretty cool) is that people will get it 72 hours before it goes up for sale to the general public.

It's free and you get it before anyone else. Can you beat that?

So how does this help athletes that sign with Roc Nation? Easy--it shows just how good this man is when it comes to marketing and making money. Athletes will make plenty in their respective games, but they have the potential to make even more with endorsements.

Now imagine if the kind of marketing power to pull off this kind of deal is working for you.

Yeah, other agents do have reason to be concerned. I'm just waiting for one of them to get smart and do like CAA did and team up with someone like Jay-Z.

Anyone know if P.Diddy is interested in sports representation?
