Could Christine Michael Take Carries Away From Marshawn Lynch?

When the Seattle Seahawks drafted a running back in the second round of the 2013 draft there were some that wondered why. Marshawn Lynch is clearly the starter and the team had other needs that could have been addressed.

Than again, should Lynch get hurt Seattle's running game is going to suffer. But than why draft a guy whose season ended early in two of the last three years because of injuries?

Why? Because he is still capable of making beautiful runs like the one above, a 43-yard scamper for a touchdown.

On the night Michael had 97 yards on 11 carries (and a TD) as well as one reception for 25 yards against a good Packers defense. For longtime fans of his it was a game that was reminiscent of his early days at Texas A&M when he earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors.

His sophomore an junior seasons were both cut short by injuries, and he ended up sharing the running back duties his senior season, but the Seahawks saw enough to take him with a second round pick.

Now after seeing him run against the Packers you have to wonder if they are thinking about taking some of the load off of Lynch. The Seahawks are primed to make a run for the Super Bowl this season, and will need Lynch for the duration of the season if they are going to bring their 'A' game all season long.

Just because he can carry the load himself doesn't mean that he should--especially if the team has a player like Michael to take some of the pressure off.
