Former Redskins Defensive End Dexter Manley Talks Preseason, Sex, and Mistresses

The preseason does have a purpose. Teams need to be able to evaluate players in game situations to see who can do what. True, the value of the assessment is tainted since the other players on the field might suck or rock, but it's the only system we got.

That being said, it is also a system that everyone likes to talk about and former Washington Redskins defensive lineman Dexter Manley is no different.

Manley was making a radio appearance recently where he was asked about the preseason. He was more than forthcoming with his opinions; perhaps too much so (at least as far as his wife is concerned):

BlackSportsOnline shared a couple excerpts from the transcripts of his appearance--and they are priceless!

Host: Now the starters are only going to be in there for a few plays tonight. What do you watch for from them? 

Manley: Well, I’m not gonna watch.

Host: Really? Manley: No, It’s preseason.

Host: We’re trying to get excited here, Dexter. 

Manley: Well, don’t get over excited. 

Host: So if you’re not gonna watch, what are you gonna do tonight?

Manley: Uh, I’m gonna probably be having sex with my wife.

Yeah, I bet just to spite him because he shared that with the world she said no that night. Dexter wasn't just done there, though. He went on to spill the beans about paychecks and mistresses.

Manley: These guys are only getting like a five, six-hundred dollar check every week, but when the regular season starts, that’s when the big bucks start.

Host: Is that right? They only get small checks, just enough to pay the bills?

Manley: For training camp, yeah, it’s just chump change. Most of them probably got mistresses, and they’re giving the money out to them.

You know there are players everywhere that are saying thanks a whole lot for outing us man.
