Than there was the autograph scandal that nearly caused him his college career, but luckily only cost him a half.
Part of his 'punishment' for the autograph scandal was that he had to talk to his team about what he's learned throughout the summer. I'm assuming that had to happen before he could play Saturday against Rice, but if you look at how he acted during the game it doesn't look like he's learned a darn thing.
First there was the 'show me the money' sign after his first touchdown pass (at least that's what USAToday is calling it; I'm not hip--I don't know):
Really Johnny? Do you think that was a good idea considering all the crap you've been through recently with the autographs for money scandal?
But it didn't stop there. After an 8-yard run he appears to tell a Rice defender that he can't have an autograph:
To be fair it does appear as if the Rice player was talking some trash to Manziel. Just because the other guy was being a poor sport does not make it right.
When there are no flags involved you can say no foul, but there was one case where Manziel did draw the flag:
Head Coach Kevin Sumlin was clearly not happy with his QB:
"I hoped that at this point he'd have learned something That's why he wasn't going back in the game, no matter what happened."
Manziel is a fiery, emotional type of player. It is one of the many things that makes him great. However, a quarterback is supposed to be the guy in control of the game, and it didn't appear like he was in much control at times.
I'm sure that he was often responding to things that the Rice players said, but there is such a thing as being the bigger man.
Just play some football Johnny. Let your game do all the talking.
