Six Quarterbacks Teams in Need Should be Trading For

When I saw that Matt Leinart had a job in the NFL again I was shocked. What in the world has this guy shown during seven seasons of NFL action that could have possibly given the Buffalo Bills reason to believe he was worth signing?

Than again, maybe that's why the Bills have had trouble winning since the Jim Kelly days. Sad thing is that they certainly could have traded for some much better options.

While in a perfect world it would be great to have three QBs that a team would feel comfortable playing with, with other holes to fill on their rosters it would be prudent to see what teams in need would be willing to offer if any of the following guys were on the trading block:

Brady Quinn, Seahawks: the former Notre Dame quarterback has had the unfortunate luck to play on some pretty bad teams during his career. Now that he's with the Seattle Seahawks we have finally been seeing the promise a Charlie Weis quarterback (back when the big man was still respected in coaching circles) should have.

The good thing is since he'll be the No. 3 man in Seattle the 'Hawks will probably be willing to listen to the right offer and since his track record up till this preseason has not been stellar I would not think they would expect more than a fourth round pick for him.

Tarvaris Jackson, Seahawks: he is currently battling it out with Quinn for the No.  2 job in Seattle; both have had a good preseason. I would think Pete Carroll would keep him since he has more experience in his system than Quinn, but if doesn't he too would be worth a late round pick.

Rex Grossman, Redskins: the Redskins quarterback was going to be a No. 3 at best for the 'Skins this season, but has played well enough throughout the preseason that any team desperate for a veteran starter should be coming up with a trade package for him. Since he's a bit on the older side and a short-term solution at best the price tag shouldn't be too high.

The team will likely only keep him if they are worried about Kirk Cousins health.

Kirk Cousins, Redskins: he proved last season he has game, and up until he got hurt he was having a solid preseason. Healthy he is a good QB; one that a team could build around meaning the price tag will be a  bit on the high side (but worth it).

Case Keenum, Texans: coming out of Houston many doubted that he really had the game to play in the NFL, hence going undrafted even though he is the career passing yards leader in FBS history. A year on Houston's practice squad appears to have paid off. He has had a great preseason and could possibly even be the QB of the future for the right team.

His upside will drive up the asking price, but since he hasn't seen anything meaningful outside of preseason it will not be crazy.

T.J. Yates, Texans: Houston doesn't need Keenum and Yates. It would not be shocking to see the Texans keep Keenum as well as he has played this preseason and with his history as a passer. Yates did win the first post season game in franchise history though so the tea may be reluctant to let him go.
