Bobby Bowden Returns to Florida State; Plants Spear at Midfield

Florid State may have a future legend in the making on the field in Jameis Winston, but prior to today's game with North Carolina State it welcomed a true legend back to Doak Walker Stadium--former head coach Bobby Bowden.

From Bleacher Report
Bowden led the team through thick and thin from 1976-2009 winning two national championships, 12 conference championships and 21 bowl games along the way. When he retired at the age of 80 following the 2009 season he said that he would stay away from games for at least the next five years.

It wasn't that he didn't want to be there watching the team and program that he was a major part of for over 30 years. He just didn't want to make things harder on the team's new coach, Jimbo Fisher, by deflecting attention away from where it belongs (on the program) and becoming a distraction.

Jimbo is now in his fourth season as the head coach and has the team poised for a national title run--so I think is pretty clear whose team it is now.

It's always good to see a school thrive when a longtime coach passes the torch on to another, but its also great to see a legend return home.
