Greg Oden is Back! Dunks on First Possession!

At one time he was expected to become the next big thing. He had the size and skill set that many could see becoming dominant in the NBA from the moment he stepped on the court. Greg Oden was going to be a game-changer; turn a team's destiny around--then the injuries happened and he was out of the league having barely even played in it.

But now he's back.

Oden last played in 2009. After multiple injuries and surgeries the team that drafted him--the Portland Trail Blazers--cut him loose last March. Every indication had him headed right for retirement, but than he opted to give it another try.

And signed with the Miami Heat.

Chances are strong he will not be the player he was expected to be, but if his health can hold out he can still be a productive player. In his first action with the Heat he did what every 7-foot, 273 pound center should do and slammed it home.

Yeah, it may not be an Earth shattering, high-flying kind of dunk, but when you stand as tall as he does and have his kind of reach it doesn't take much to dunk.

You have to love his perspective. When interviewed after the game he said he was just glad he was able to walk off the court.

I'm not a Heat fan, but I will certainly be cheering for this guy whenever he steps on the court.
