Iowa and Wisconsin Have More on the Line Than Just a Bet This Weekend

This is an awesome time of year for college football.  Not only are the majority of the crappy FBS vs FCS games over with, but its rivalry team. It's that time of year that even if your team has had a rough season you can count on them to play well this week--because every one plays better when its against their rival.

So when Iowa and Wisconsin meet this week there will be a little more than just victory on the line. There will be pride along with a little wager that the two schools have made.

Iowa got the ball rolling by proposing a little wager:

The Badgers are having a pretty good season (as are the Hawkeyes) and had no trouble accepting the bet--and talking a little good-natured smack:

To which Iowa responded with:

The trophy is a new component to the rivalry having been introduced for the first time in 2004. However, this season there is going to be more than just the trophy and the bet on the line---bragging rights.

Yes, bragging rights are on the line each and every season, but this season is going to be a little different. The two teams have been playing for over a century meeting for the first time in 1894. Since then the two teams have played 86 times, the last being in 2010. Wisconsin won that day to improve to 42-42-2 against Iowa.

Yep. After this baby is tied. So not only will the winner get the trophy and be honored on the loser's Twitter feed it, but it will hold all-time bragging rights.

Until next season.
