Because winning the World Series is a pretty big deal. Should they clinch the series tonight it will be the first time they've done so since 1918 ('04 was clinched in Denver; '07 clinched in St. Louis). The game is so big it demanded the attention of the Secretary of State John Kerry.

And to prove to you how important they are, I am leaving this afternoon at 5:30 to go watch the Red Sox beat the Cardinals this evening,” he said to great laughter and applause. “That’s how important it is.”So he's there just to make a point to the rest of the State Department. Right.
