Rice Scout Team Running Back Jayson Carter Gets First Career Carry; Becomes Shortest Player in FBS

The Rice Owls do not get mentioned very often for their football acumen. Folks just don't think of them when it comes to football when there are so many other, bigger programs in the state of Texas. They will make it into the news after Saturday's 45-10 spanking of UTEP though. Why?

Because they officially have the shortest player in the FBS.

Late in the game the Owls decided to give one of their scout team players, a walk-on running back by the name of Jayson Carter--who happens to be 4'9"-- his first career carry in an FBS game. The sophomore has been toiling away on the scout team so the coaches decided to give him a play to reward him for his hard work.

As a former scout team hero myself this is awesome. It was a pretty big day when I finally heard my name and was told to hit the field so I can appreciate the excitement that Carter had to be feeling.

Congratulations Jayson Carter and keep up the good work.
