Alabama Ties a Record Before the Sugar Bowl Even Starts

Rumor has it that Alabama football team is pretty good. I suppose if you win three of the last BCS national championships you should at least be referred to as good, right? This bowl season they are not playing for a national championship (must feel strange for the seniors); instead they will be facing off against Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.

With the game still weeks away they have already tied a record.

More than likely when you play like Alabama has you are going to be favored--and the Crimson Tide has for the last 53 games. With the opening line for the Sugar Bowl making them a 16.5 point favorite against the Sooners the streak will reach 54 consecutive games.

It's not quite a record, but it ties them for the longest streak on record.

The line may fluctuate some over the next couple weeks, but there is no way that the Sooners will be favored (or win). So when the 'Tide kicks off against West Virginia to open the 2014 season they will set the new record at 55 games and counting.

Hmmm...I wonder if Vegas has an over/under for this streak....
