Kobe Bryant Makes Return in Epic Fashion

The Los Angeles Lakers are a good team with the roster they've been playing with--good; not great by any means. To be great they need the play maker; the leader; the man, the myth, the legend; the future Hall of Famer and one of the best basketball players to ever play the game.

They need Kobe Bryant, and on Sunday against the Toronto Raptors they got him.

Of course when you have a player like Kobe Bryant making a triumphant return to the game after suffering a nasty injury it has to be done right. It can't just be the usual intro. No, it has to be something special; something that will send a message to the fans, his teammates, and the rest of the NBA.

I'm back-- and I think the Staples Center nailed it.

It would be nice to see Kobe come back and return to his old ways, but that is probably not going to happen. The man will need some time to get back in the swing of things as well as get in to a rhythm with his team.

It doesn't appear as if he is going to press too hard to start, but he is going to make a difference. With his first possession he recorded an assist:

He has some work to do though. His first shot was not something you see too often from him:

Heck, his first point came courtesy of a free throw:

It's all good though. Whether the team wins or loses is not going to be the story of the night. No, the story is going to be plain and simple:

Kobe is back.

And when he gets back in to the groove the rest of the Western Conference better watch out!
