Mack Brown Not Out of the Coaching Game Yet?

When Mack Brown stepped down an era ended at the University of Texas. One of the most successful coaches in recent history chose to step down and away from the program he resurrected. Word is he could have stayed and was asked to, but when it's time--and apparently it was time.

That brings up an obvious question in regards to Brown--what's next?

For now he's staying on with the university as a special adviser and bringing home a cool half million a year. But does he want to get back into football? Only he knows, but from what the internet rumor mill has churned up there has been plenty of interest (key word--rumor).

There has been talk that a few schools tried to gauge his interest over the course of the fall including USC. The latest rumor involves Nebraska--and yes, the Cornhuskers still have a coach!

Bo Pelini has been under-fire this season, but the university has gone to bat for him and publicly stated he's staying put. That doesn't mean they can't change their mind of course.

According to Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman Brown's attorney Joe Jamail has been contacted by someone at Nebraska. Jamail has stated that Brown is not interested in the job, and the Cornhuskers have vehemently denied making any sort of inquiry.

I can't help but wonder if we are going to get rumors here like the Saban ones we had prior to Brown stepping down in Austin--crazy and unfounded. If so let me put one out there...

So I here the Texans need a new head coach...
