New England Patriots Get Some Help From Refs to Beat Cleveland Browns

They say any team can win on any given Sunday. Well--that looked like it was going to be the case in New England, but the Patriots benefited from a phantom pass interference call to pull a miracle out of their behinds in the end.

From Bleacher Report
With 2:39 on the clock the Browns were up 26-14. The Patriots are hardly ever out of a game, but they sure seemed to be out of this one. New England did narrow the lead down some when they scored a touchdown with just over a minute left, but the Patriots still needed a couple of miracles.

They got one when they recovered the onside kick. They got the other when the referee threw a flag on Cleveland for pass interference on the above play.

Yeah, I'm still shaking my head too. He doesn't appear to even touch Josh Boyce (Patriots wide receiver) until the ball hits the ground!

Final Score: New England 27 Cleveland 26

Merry Christmas New England!

  1. Fat, I've seen a lot of selective editing on this. The PI occurred just prior to this clip. The DB grabbed his shoulder, turning the receiver and impeding his progress to the ball. Had he not done that, the receiver would have had a clear shot to this ball. If you want to say that the spot of the foul was wrong, I'll concede that.

  2. This clip sure didn't show it, but it was all I had to work with since the game wasn't on in my market. Glad it was a legit call than.

    1. Gee, maybe the Patriot fans will stop crying about how they got robbed in the past couple of games.
