For the last few days the news about the sporting world has been all about a certain football player that talked a lot, got bashed for it, and than apologized (sort of). Too often it does seem that the sporting world news is about crap like that, but occasionally it is about respect and solidarity.
Like it was Tuesday night when Northwestern hosted Purdue.

Early in the day an undergraduate teaching assistant walked in to the electrical engineering building on the Purdue campus in Lafayette, Indiana, and shot another teacher's assistant. Word is he immediately exited the building after the shooting and turned himself in to a police officer.
There is no word just yet on what prompted the attack.
As a show of support for their competition a group of students painted the message "Stand With Purdue" on their chests. It is a shame that people find it so easy to resort to deadly violence to solve their problems these days, but it's good to see that when it matters most people can still come together.
