Texas A&M Already Reassign Johnny Manziel's No. 2 Jersey?

It was bound to happen. After all, there are only so many numbers that a team can use and that certain players can wear--but did Texas A&M have to give up Johnny Manziel's number so soon?

The team hasn't made it official or anything, but if the number on the locker of midterm enrollee Speedy Noil is any indication it appears that there will be another No.2 taking the field for the Aggies next season:

Now it's not like the number was just arbitrarily assigned. It was his number in high school and he was wearing it at the Under Armour game when he announced he was committing to the Aggies.

There are likely going to be some that will wonder why the school doesn't retire the jersey of one of its favorite sons, but that is not something Texas A&M does on any sort of regular basis. In fact, the school retired it's first jersey last September--John David Crowe's No. 44.

Is Johnny worthy of the honor? Eh--maybe. He did become only the second player in school history to win the Heisman and he was the first freshman to ever do it, but is that enough?

We'll probably find out--someday.
