Vanderbilt New Head Coach Expected to be Stanford Defensive Coordinator Derek Mason

If the early word ends up being true Vanderbilt fans are going to be very, very happy with the next head coach of their football--soon to be former Stanford defensive coordinator Derek Mason.

The news has been spreading around the internet thanks to 247Sports:

Assuming this is true Vanderbilt fans will have no trouble forgetting that other guy that just left for greener pastures.  Just based off his defensive acumen this will be a great hire because if the Commodores are going to compete in the SEC they have to be able to stop some pretty potent offenses.

I'm not sure what is reputation is as a recruiter, but this has to put the minds of recruits on the fence about Vanderbilt at ease. The Commodores didn't just get a replacement--they got an upgrade.
