LISTEN: Tom Brady Talks About Witnessing the Nine Alarm Fire in Boston and Respect for the Firefighters

A nine-alarm fire consumed an apartment building in Boston Wednesday. At one point New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady--who happened to live a few doors down--was seen watching the fire and the firefighters at work before leaving to get his own family to safety.

Two firefighters ended up losing their lives in the blaze, and Thursday morning Brady went on a local radio show to talk about what he saw as well as his respect and admiration for the men that fought the fire and especially the ones that lost their lives.

Here's a clip of his interview on WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan:

"

A nine-alarm fire is freaking huge. According to Wikipedia the number of alarms is not just about the number of engine and people involved in fighting the fire. It has to deal with the difficulty in fighting the fire as well as personnel.

For example, a five alarm fire in New York (according to Wikipedia) would include 21 Engine Companies, 11 Ladder Companies, 1 Squad Company, 1 Rescue Company, 9 Battalion Chiefs, 1 Division Chief, 1 Deputy Chief, 1 Assistant Chief, and the Chief of Operations, as well as multiple specialized units and or specially called units operating on the scene.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the friends, family, and fellow firefighters of the two fallen heroes in Boston.
