Michael Vick Could Use a Little Help Coming Up With a New Number

When the rumors started to float around the internet that Michael Vick was going to be signed by the New York Jets fans, analysts, and bloggers saw two issues-- (1) halting the progress of Geno Smith and (2) who would wear No. 7.

As for Smith's progress,  Rex Ryan has stated that there will be an open competition for the starting job next season. When it comes to the No. 7--Smith wore the number last season for the Jets, but Vick has worn it throughout his entire career.

Prior to Vick signing with the Jets there were rumors that he was going to make an issue out of getting his old number, but it appears that is not the case after all. According to TMZ he is not going to insist he get his old number, but will choose a new one.

"I want to pick a new number for the Jets, Number 7 is Geno's number."

The question now becomes what his new number is going to be--and he doesn't know.

"I am open to suggestions."
