That is not true of course and the story was quickly taken down. The true story was much less life-threatening.

As it turns out, the coach just had a cancerous mole removed. From the team's website:
"During a recent doctor's visit, it was discovered that I had a cancerous mole on my skin, which has since been removed. The only follow up required is to have my moles checked every three months and that basically is the end of the story. The recent extraction procedure will have no effect on my ability to coach the team moving forward."Good. Glad to hear its not serious.
The team was quick to pull the incorrect story down, but the fact that it was up is just another example of how the internet has irreparably damaged journalism. In the rush to be first fact checking has become an after thought or something that is glossed over.
As a blogger I get the need to be first, but its better to be second than to post something false (in my exalted opinion).
