News Flash--the Charlotte Bobcats Don't Suck Anymore

For the last few seasons the Charlotte Bobcats redefined the concept of crap in the NBA. Yes, there has been some raw talent on the squad, but the coaching staff was unable to develop it and it showed in the team's record-- in the 2011-12 season they were 7-59 and last season 21-61.

In short--they sucked.

But this season that changed. A new coach and some new personnel made a difference for Michael Jordan's team and they finished the season 43-39--and they actually made the postseason as the No. 7 seed!

In the NBA where over half of the teams make the playoffs that may not be as big a deal and some may say that doesn't make them a good squad now. After all, they were the first team sent fishing after Miami finished the sweep Monday night.

So--why don't they suck?

The Bobcats are a young team that was improving throughout the season as it continued to learn first year coach Steve Clifford's system. They faced easily one of the toughest opponents in the NBA in the first round and while they did get swept they did not play bad basketball. They made it a challenge for Miami.

The Heat were simply better--just like a veteran group and two time defending champion should be.

Next year this team is going to be even better than this season and will be even more competitive. If blogging actually paid well I'd consider betting on it (but it doesn't).
