Texas A&M Getting New $16.8 Million State of the Art Facility [PHOTOS]

A couple years ago Texas A&M was coming off a disappointing 7-6 season. It marked the end of the Ryan Tannehill and Mike Sherman Era not to mention the end of their time in the Big 12. The following year the Aggies embarked on a new era in the SEC. Few thought they would be able to compete with the big boys of college football, but the Aggies were going to do it anyway.

Two years, one Heisman trophy winter, a top-five finish, and two bowl game wins the Aggies have proven they are here to stay--and now its time to look the part.

The football stadium--Kyle Field--is already undergoing renovations that will make it one of the most impressive stadiums in the country. Thursday the school announced that it would be giving the football team's facility a $16.8 million makeover.

According to school officials it wasn't that there was anything wrong with the old facility:

"If you look at this facility (in its pre-renovation state), the space is great for the most part," Justin Moore, A&M's associate athletic director for football, told aggieathletics.com. "But the branding and feel of the facility make it look like a lawyer's office. It looks like it's geared toward a coaching staff. When in reality it should be geared toward players. It should be geared toward a 16- to 20-year-old male."

From the look of the artist renderings I'd say mission accomplished.
