Oklahoma Sooners Team Chaplain Arrested on Drug and Larceny Charges

This story falls smack dab in the realm of so messed up it has to be fake, but alas it is not. It is, however, the kind of thing that will make Oklahoma fans and people everywhere shake their heads in disbelief. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will likely find it a little embarrassing.

Curious yet? Well--it appears that on Wednesday the team chaplain for the Oklahoma Sooners did something you would not expect a man of the cloth to do.

via Twitter

He (not going to give the fool anymore notoriety if I can avoid it) was arrested on drug and larceny charges after tricking a man in to taking a fake test drive while he waited at the man's house.

The chaplain told the man that for every 100 test drives the dealership he got the vehicle from would make a donation to the FCA. If all you have to do to help is take a test drive it is kind of hard to say no, right?

It got a little strange when the chaplain said he'd just hang out while the man went for the drive. No one wants to leave a stranger in their home, but if you can't trust a man of the cloth who can you trust?

While the man complied with the chaplain's request he did go ahead and call his wife to tell her what was going on. As it turns out, the house had some security cameras so his wife was able to watch the chaplain while her husband was out of the house. She witnessed him rifling through things and stealing so she called her husband back and he returned home.

When police arrived the chaplain tried to sell them on his 'test drive' story (which was false). They already knew he was up to no good and when they asked he admitted to taking drugs from the home.

He was arrested and booked on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, larceny, concealment of stolen property and obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check or false pretenses.

Needless to say the 32 middle school and high school campuses he serves will probably not invite him back. He has not been let go by the University  yet, but you have to think that he soon will be.
