It takes a special breed of beast to be able to play rugby. The game is tough, and not just because of the punches that get thrown on occasion. Back in my own coaching days I used to tell the team all the time: Everyone's tired after five minutes and everyone's hurting after ten. The winners--the true rugby players--find a way to push through and play on.
So yeah, it takes something unique inside. It's the kind of thing that has guys (and gals) willing to play no matter what--no matter if their head is gushing blood from a nasty cut or if their shorts are mangled and they only have underwear on...

No, that's not a typo. I meant it when I said 'only underwear' on. To be more precise Munster's Donncha O’Callaghan did have the rest of his kit on (jersey, socks, cleats), but somehow his shorts became mangled in a game so he ripped them off and ran over to join the line out.
Here's the best part--he didn't see why they couldn't play on:
