Boston Patriots Tried to Get President Kennedy to Play While He Was in Office

During the season teams will often get hit with injuries and will sometimes need to get a little creative in order to figure out how to fill the gaps in the line up. It is not unusual for a team to have to move a player from one position to another. When that is not an option they look to the outside world in order to fill the hole.

Not too long ago the Patriots used wide receiver Troy Brown on defense as a defensive back when injuries depleted the ranks. If you thought that was a reach back in 1961 the team really reached in an effort to fill a need.

It appears they were a little short on wide receivers so they reached out to President Kennedy to see if he had the time to come play when he wasn't busy leading the country:

You have to do what you have to do. If he said yes the Secret Service would have gone nuts!
