Matt Schaub Heading Back to Atlanta?

At one time he was considered to be a pretty good quarterback, but sometime during the 2012 season something clicked in Matt Schaub (and not in a good way). He went from being a competent and respected passer to the butt of jokes and a laughing stick. Houston got rid of him After the 2013 season. The Oakland Raiders gave him a try during the 2014 season, but didn't think he was worth $5.5 million so they got rid of him after the season ended.

Since the Raiders is often where players go when their careers are dead and they want one more year it would appear that he is done since they cut him. That may not be the case.

As it turns out he may have an opportunity to go back to the first team he called home--Atlanta. New Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has expressed some interest in possibly bringing the veteran in.
"Schaub is certainly somebody that we could (add)," Quinn said this week at the NFL Annual Meeting, per ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure. "As we get through it, we'll let you know if we go down that road."
The Falcons currently have Sean Renfree and Schaub's former back-up, T.J. Yates, on the roster. Adding a veteran would not be a bad idea and Schaub's familiarity with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan could be the deciding factor.

However, as bad as he has played the last couple seasons you have to wonder why anyone would be interested in signing him. One can only assume that the team would be bringing him in for the veteran minimum and not a penny more.
