While he knows that the team does not renegotiate till the final year of a deal it sounds like he is planning on holding out anyway.

"I think the team is explosive," Bennett replied, stopping himself to say, "actually, I'm not back just yet. Not just yet."Rumors have been flying around that for some crazy reason Bennett wants out of Seattle. He has stated a few times that is not the case, but the rumors have persisted. So maybe now that he has made his wish for a raise public the trade rumors will die.
"I think everyone who has a job, they want a raise for whatever they're doing," Bennett told King-5's Margaret Larson on New Day NW. "I'm just like any other American. I think everybody wants to be paid a little bit more so I don't think I fall short of that. People assume when you ask for a little more money, they assume that you want to be traded or something like that. But that's not what I'm trying to go for."Yes, everyone does want a raise and we all feel like we should be paid more, but if any of us were to hold out and not come to work we would simply get fired. What Bennett is forgetting is that he just got a raise. If he wanted the chance to get another one after only a single season he should have only signed a one-year deal or had some sort of opt-out clause included.
But he didn't. So hopefully when it comes time to honor his commitment and contractual obligation he will do just that. Oh---and be happy he gets paid a ridiculous amount of money to play a game.
