Tavon Austin Wants To Wear Stedman Bailey's Number For The Rest Of The Season

On Thanksgiving many members of the St. Louis Rams were probably thankful that their teammate, Stedman Bailey, was not dead. He is still in the hospital recovering from gun shots to the head, but the key word there is 'recovering.' It may take awhile, but he is going to be okay.

While he is recovering his teammates have been trying to do what they can to honor him. At Friday's practice Kenny Britt and Tavon Austin wore Bailey's No. 12. Austin is hoping he will be able to take it a step further.

The decision will not necessarily be up to Fisher though. When Chad Ochocinco wanted to change his name he was told he would have to buy all the old jerseys before he could do so. However, this is a different case.

Austin isn't looking to make a permanent change, but just wants to wear his friend and teammate's number as a tribute to him for the rest of this season. Maybe if he still wants Bailey's name on the jersey the league will be okay with it.

Bailey and Austin go way back. The two were teammates at West Virginia before getting drafted by the Rams in 2013.
