Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson Up To The Task Of Carrying The Running Game?

Even though he is not going to play for the last five games of the season, Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson should be in talks for Comeback Player of the Year. It's a shame that he is going to be out for the season with a broken leg. However, while it does suck to lose him, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is not worried about the running game.

He thinks rookie David Johnson is going to be just fine.

Andre Ellington would be the next man up, but he is expected to be out with an injury as well leaving David Johnson to carry the load. He hasn't carried the ball a lot this season (35 carries or 139 yards and four touchdowns), but he has contributed in the kick return game (one touchdown) and passing game as well (three touchdowns).

While his professional portfolio is not extensive, Arians is confident he'll be up to the task as the main guy.

“I have all the confidence in the world in him and him starting,” Arians said (via ESPN).

Fans and Arians will be hoping that he has his fumbling issues under control. So far this season he has put three balls on the turf, losing one.
