Dabo Swinney Rips His Punter A New One And Throws Him Under The Bus [VIDEO]

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has been known to get angry from time to time on the sideline when someone screws up. During the ACC Championship game Saturday night his punter decided to run a fake that didn't work. So when he got to the sideline he got more than an earful from his coach.

Kudos to him for just standing there and taking it.

Did he deserve to be yelled at? Well--he saw an opening and tried to take it. Had he made it Swinney would have sang the kid's praises--but he didn't:

When a player screws up like this he needs to be reprimanded, but yelled at like that? Eh--some would say yes, some would say no. What the kid didn't deserve was to be thrown under the bus by his head coach:

  1. if the coach didn't say do it, don't do it. if he does say do it. do it. its that simple. he hasn't been "thrown under the bus as he will be punting in the oklahoma game, but he had better not do that again. and where was the "opening" you are speaking of?

    1. Maybe the kid thought he had relationship with his coach like Pat McAffee does with Chuck Pagano and he had the green light to do something if he saw an opening. If you watch closely, when the ball is snapped it looks like there is a lot of open territory right where he runs--but the defense closed the gap too quick for him. Thrown under the bus doesn't mean get demoted. With his comments, Dabo completely threw the kid under the bus.
