Don't Expect Baylor WR Corey Coleman To Go Pro After This Season

Baylor fans have to be daydreaming just a little about the possibility of K.D. Cannon and Corey Coleman teaming up to wreak secondaries in the Big 12. How can they not? Coleman is one of the best in the game today and Cannon is an up and coming talent. However, there is a chance that it may not happen.

Word is that Coleman is thinking about declaring for the draft after this season.

Ask him and he'll tell you that he isn't worried about it right now. He is focused on the task at hand--beating Texas this week. Apparently he has indicated to some people that he is strongly considering it:

During the team's weekly press conference Monday he did say that it may very well depend on where he is projected to go. The higher the better of course, and while he has been a weapon for Baylor the 5'11" Coleman may find he is further down the list than he might like.

Walterfootball.com has him projected to be the eighth wide receiver off the board (2nd-4th round pick) should he declare for the 2016 draft (and assuming other player declare as well. While he is a ball hawk, he is also kind of short. Only one guy listed above him is 6'. Most are 6'3" or taller.

As discouraging as that may be to him, his projections for the 2017 draft are not any better (No. 11; 2nd-4th round). Of course as some players declare for this coming draft he'll move up in the 2017 pecking order. Five of the guys listed in front of him for 2017 are also listed in front of him for 2016.

So it may come down to how many of them declare. Should all or most of them declare he may go ahead and wait a year. That way he can add to his resume, and there will not be as much competition.
