WATCH: Green Bay Packers Get Lucky With Lateral Play And Get Extra Down Due To Phantom Face Mask

The Green Bay Packers got their behinds handed to them in the first half of Thursday night's game against the Lions. The second staff was a different story as Aaron Rodgers brought the team back from a 20-point deficit to win in an improbable fashion--and with the help of a phantom face  mask penalty.

It was going to be the last play of the game. To keep it alive the Packers started throwing laterals till the ball found its way back into the hands of Aaron Rodgers. With no help back there with him he had no choice but to take the hit from Devin Taylor so he braced for the worst. With how he fell down relative to the timing of Taylor's swipe it looked like Taylor had yanked on his face mask.

A closer look at the play showed that Taylor got a finger on Rodgers' face mask, but didn't actually pull it. Penalties are not review-able so Green Bay got an un-timed down since a game can't end on a defensive penalty.

Give Aaron Rodgers a second chance and he will take advantage of it.
