What Coaches Have Been Fired So Far?

Black Monday has lived up to its billing for the NFL so far with a number of guys getting the ax. So far I'd say that there are no surprises in the bunch; there have at least been grumbling involving all the head coaches in question if not full-fledged rumors about them.

It came as no surprise considering the rumors that have been floating around, but Jets owner Jeffrey Lurie announced that Rex Ryan would be coming back next season:
"Rex Ryan will remain the head coach of our football team. I believe that he has the passion, the talent, and the drive to successfully lead our team."
When Rex sticks with Mark Sanchez next season I am going to laugh long and hard--and then enjoy the train wreck that is the New York Jets for one more season. The only other thing that could make this catastrophe of a team even more VH1 reality show-ish would be if they kept Tim Tebow, but stated that this time he would get an honest shot to play.

Just kidding Tim. I hope they let you go.

Mike Munchak appears to have been given a stay of execution as well. Instead Bud Adams fired team president Mike Reinfeldt.

The following are the guys that are working on their resumes so far today:
  • Andy Reid (Philadelphia Eagles)
  • Pat Shurmur (Cleveland Browns)
  • Chan Gailey (Buffalo Bills)
  • Lovie Smith (Chicago Bears)
  • Norv Turner (San Diego Chargers)
  • Romeo Crennel (Kansas City Chiefs)
  • Ken Whisenhunt (Arizona Cardinals)
The entire Arizona offensvie staff has been let go. Oakland  OC Greg Knapp and three other assitants have been let go by the Raiders. A lot of general managers have been shown the door as well:
  • Gene Smith (Jacksonville)
  • Mike Tannenbaum (New York Jets)
  • A.J. Smith (San Diego)
  • Rod Graves (Arizona)
