I really don't care for parades too much. I just don't get into watching these things with these huge contraptions covered in flowers and people waving. As a kid I used to dig the huge blow up cartoon characters, but even then I thought they were boring as could be.
However, after hearing about the Rose Bowl Parade I wish I had been tuning in when this event happened.
It's been a pretty common thing for families to get surprise reunions with loved ones that have been stationed overseas with the nation's armed forces. The ideas behind them are not too original anymore since there have been a lot done by now, but that doesn't matter. Each and every one is pretty moving anyway.
Well the folks with the Rose Bowl Parade and ABC found a way to surprise one family--a soldier's wife and four-year old son--with his return from Afghanistan. I will admit--I cried (parenthood has turned me into a big softy).
I don't want to tell you what happened; the GMA clip does a pretty good job of it.
